New crafty talent for Mother's Day - 4th March 2007
Ella Rabaiotti writes
Exploring Not on the High Street, is just like rummaging through a great big recycled boutique, albeit 'virtually' through their online site. Many of the crafters use vintage finds; the latest talent to display such wares on the site is Kat Boon Design, who beautifully handcrafts cushions, bags, scarves and brooches which all incorporate recycled materials. The beauty of such fabrics is that many of the designs are one-off's or limited editions. Kat Boon uses a good range of materials, dating back to the 50's, 60's and 70's, as well as more modern finds. For a perfect Mothers Day gift created by Kat Boon Designs, check out the fabulous boa's made using recycled silk shirts and twisted dupion, available in creamy beige or black diamond (£40). What I particularly like about the boa is that you haven't compromised on style whilst being satisfyingly eco-conscious.
